Coat/Clothing Drive held monthly. The next drive will be held on:
Monthly Coat/Clothing Drive, next event: Saturday, December 17 from 1 -3pm (At the corner of Greenmount and North Avenue)
COVID brought many challenges and has left record numbers of Americans unemployed or homeless. Many Americans won’t be able to afford to pay their utility bills to heat their homes this winter.
This winter will be especially tough for those in the Baltimore area, many of which were already living under the poverty level before the pandemic hit.
Much of the at risk populations including: children, elderly, veterans and the homeless will be even more vulnerable and cold this winter season.
The Changing Lives Initiativ in cooperation with Sponsors and community partners is hosting a Coat Drive in Baltimore to provide warm winter coats, apparel and supplies to those in-need, here in our community.
Our goal is to host a coat drive in accessible way to provide at least 100 warm winter coats to people in need.
We will be providing new or lightly used:
- Coats
- Scarves
- Gloves
We would also like to provide new:
- Hats
- Thermal underwear
- Socks
We are requesting in-kind donations of:
- Coats
- Winter Apparell ( Coats, scarves, gloves, hats, thermal underwear, socks, etc.)
- COVID essentials (masks, hand sanitizer, soap, etc)
- Emergency Blankets
- Food (especially canned/ non-perishable)
- Coat Drive Supplies (Clothing Racks/ Tables)
We are requesting monetary donations to buy new or lightly used winter coats and apparell. We are able to purchase new coats for $40 each.
Our goal is to collect $7,500 to purchase new coats and other winter apparell for 100 people.
The estimated cost of a new coat being $40 per person and $35 per person for other winter apparel.
Cost of 100 new coats:100 coats x $40 = $4,000
Cost of other winter apparell:
100 scarves x $5 = $500|| 100 gloves x $10 = $1000
100 hats x $5 = $500|| 100 Thermal underwear x $10 = $1000
100 packages of socks x $5 = $500
We will host the coat drive: Saturday December 17 from 1 -3pm (At the corner of Greenmount and North Avenue)
We hope that you will consider supporting this coat drive and helping local people in need stay warm this winter.
I am asking you to please give what you can.
